Fees Guide - Motoring Offences

Fixed Fee Cases

In relation to Road Traffic Offences that can only be dealt with at the Magistrates' Court the following fees apply:

  • £475.00 plus VAT = £570.00 (including VAT)
  • Plus £20.00 travel within Warwickshire and Coventry. All other areas at the hourly rate of £87.50.

The fee above covers advice and representation at court for up to a full day of court, but do not apply to cases listed for trial.

The specific work included in the fee are as follows:

  • Consideration of the evidence;
  • Taking instructions;
  • Advising on pleas and outcomes;
  • Attending upon the Prosecution Lawyer or Probation Officer where appropriate;
  • Consideration of the probation reports where appropriate.

What you can expect if we represent you

For example: For a client charged with a drink driving offence.

They can expect an attendance at court, where once our advocate is in receipt of the prosecution papers and having considered then, they will then attend upon the client in private and advise in relation to the case against them.

They will then proceed to take instructions from the client, to consider if there is a defence to the charge or whether the instructions amount to mitigation.

Advice will then be provided as to the options and potential outcomes.

What happens if you have pleaded guilty and your case doesn't conclude on the same day?

This sometimes happens for reasons such as a lack of court time, the court wanting more information or the probation service requiring more time to produce a report.

In the event of a 'guilty plea' case being adjourned by the court or put off to another date the following fees shall then apply.

  • £350.00 plus VAT = £420.00 (including VAT)
  • Plus £20.00 travel within Warwickshire and Coventry. All other areas at the hourly rate of £87.50.

The fee above covers the continued representation at court for up to a full day at court.

What happens if you plead not guilty?

In the event of a not guilty please, the advocate will assist in organising the trial which will take place at a later date.

What are the fees if my matter has been listed for trial?

Following a 'not guilty' plea hearing and to continue representation our hourly rates will then apply. Please note the fixed fee does not cover instructing experts or preparing witness statements.
